DuckTales C64 - What is it worth?

Post by lazercops »

I bought a boxed DuckTales cartridge recently from a guy who had it in a box of C64 stuff in his attic.

The box is damaged from being stored under a bunch of unorganized things, and contains no other things than the pictured:

The glue holding the sleeve together seems like it has dissolved, therefore the unfolded state.

Does anyone have an idea about the value of the pictured above?

If selling, I would put on Ebay, then you will find out how much it is worth.
Could be $99-200 I would guess????

Don't know about that. I bought one of these at a local flea market for $3.50 in April. It's box was perfect too.
If it ends up being worth that much, guess where my cartridge is going.....

Yes, but you can't go by that! I once bought an Atari 2600 cartridge for
$2.99 and the resold it for $1000...

Those better shots show where the cart shell came from then... it's unsold or returned TIB drive stock!

I know that. That statement was sort of tongue in cheek. I have had the good luck of finding a pearl mixed in with the junk before.

A dump would be nice. The diskette version sucks.

I can "only" muster 15 years or so in the dedicated C64 cartridge collecting realm heh... but people generally consider me to be a bit of a fruitloop in terms of C64 cartridges. No idea why...! 8O

(aka someone has to be the fountain of madness, and the fickle finger of fate landed on me)

A hex examine of a dump would enlighten a few to whether these are potentially genuine, or someone's wind up. We've had at least one "fake" cartridge outing in the past...

I didn't really "collect" carts as such - but I had a huge pile of them until all of my computer stuff was stolen about three years ago.
You just reminded me that I still have a patch too - an Activision patch from Beamrider. Might even still have the letter they sent too.

My dad's cousin stole a lot of his cartridges (on various formats) in 2005, including all his C64 carts.. He had a complete collection of Ocean carts, although where he got Double Dragon from, I have no idea..

@Mayhem

You? Collect carts? Well in all my years... ;)

I do remember one of the other threads a little while ago by Sam (please correct me if I'm wrong guys), and this cart seems especially intriguing. They all seem to be a little rough around the edges finish wise. (Either with other versions instructions or slightly botched boxes etc.)

Do you own a version of this Matt, or is it something you are looking into investigating to verify its authenticity?

I'm just interested in the story of this one and if it's one you (among others) may have been chasing for a while :)

I would say an ebay auction on that cartridge would get troll bidders. I would put that up for $1000 using buy it now with immediate payment.

I don't own it, and yes, I'm investigating if it could be genuine. The box is the PC version with a sticker on the spine as it says Titus on the sleeve; it's definitely not the original disk box (as I own this game on disk) and it was only released in the US, so there was no PAL version either. So how they've turned up in Europe, not certain.
